To improve the effectiveness of forest management and patrol efforts, WildAct partnered with Chu Yang Sin National Park to organize a training program on the SMART (Spatial Monitoring and Reporting Tool) conservation management software for forest rangers and specialized enforcement teams stationed at forest protection posts.

As part of the training initiative, the park’s management board invested in specialized equipment, including smartphones with SMART installed, GPS devices, computers, and data processing software. Additionally, officers responsible for data entry and analysis received dedicated training to ensure that collected data can be effectively applied in management and decision-making.

Acting as technical advisors, WildAct directly conducted the SMART training sessions — with in-person visits to individual ranger stations to tailor the guidance to the terrain and specific operational conditions of each sub-zone. These hands-on sessions enabled rangers to fully grasp the procedures and confidently integrate SMART into their daily tasks.

Thanks to the close collaboration between WildAct and Chu Yang Sin National Park, forest protection efforts in the region are being gradually modernized — opening up new opportunities to strengthen the management of the area’s valuable species and ecosystems.
