In an interview with Tatler, Dr. Trang Nguyen reflects on her journey – rooted in a love for wildlife – that has grown into a mission to inspire community-led conservation through WildAct.

Alongside people-centred conservation initiatives already being carried out by WildAct, Dr. Trang also places firm faith in the power of communities to safeguard biodiversity: “What gives me hope in the future of conservation in Vietnam and globally is the positive shift in people’s awareness and actions, especially among younger generations. More and more young people, regardless of their academic background, are eager to take part in environmental and wildlife protection efforts. In addition, many businesses and organisations in Vietnam are beginning to prioritise sustainability and adopt greener, more responsible practices.

Personally, I draw strength from the local communities and forest rangers WildAct works with. Despite ongoing challenges, they continue to show remarkable perseverance, commitment, and a willingness to learn. This is the foundation for believing that conservation is not just a career, it’s an essential part of a sustainable future for society.”
