Training on Women’s Initiative and Women-Led Initiatives for Bird Conservation
With the goal of increasing local community participation, particularly women, in the conservation of spoon-billed sandpipers, the Vietnam Wildlife Action Center successfully organized two training sessions: a theoretical part (held in Kim Sơn district) and a practical part (at Tam Đảo Bear Rescue Center) for Women Union (WU) members from Kim Sơn and Yên Mô districts in Ninh Bình province.
The theoretical session, lasting two days, involved 50 WU members from the two districts, during which four preliminary plans were developed for communication projects on migratory bird conservation. These projects were led by the Women’s Union in collaboration with the community. Two of the best initiatives were selected to be carried out in the practical session.

The practical session also took place over two days, with 23 WU members from the two selected initiative groups at the Bear Rescue Center. The communication initiatives were further developed and are ready to be implemented in local areas. Additionally, the WU members had the opportunity to visit and learn about the role of the Women’s Union in conservation activities, which inspired and motivated them to implement the women-led initiatives.
