Empowering Future Conservationists In Combating Illegal Wildlife Trand Course – CWT 2024

Continuing the success of 2023, WildAct, in collaboration with the Center for Natural Resources and Environmental Studies at Vietnam National University, Hanoi (CRES - VNU), is organizing the Illegal Wildlife Trade Combat Course (CWT 2024). This course attracted nearly 50 applications nationwide, from which 21 outstanding individuals were selected as participants for CWT 2024.

The course provides participants with a comprehensive view of the conservation field through three components: Theory, Practice, and Internships at conservation organizations. The 21 participants have the opportunity to explore and discuss pressing issues related to illegal wildlife trade both domestically and internationally, while also learning practical experiences from leading experts in the field.

Participants listen attentively to issues related to illegal wildlife trade.

The course equips participants with fundamental knowledge of biodiversity, current conservation issues, and updates on Vietnamese and international policies and laws. Additionally, they learn about the application of science and technology, animal welfare, and developing potential projects to support current conservation efforts.

Participants practiced care activities for carnivores and pangolins confiscated from illegal hunting and trafficking.
Participants visit the Endangered Primate Rescue Center (EPRC).

We sincerely thank the organizations and individuals who have supported the program, sharing invaluable knowledge and experiences, and inspiring passion for conservation in the CWT participants: Save Vietnam’s Wildlife (SVW) and Cuc Phuong National Park, Fauna & Flora International, Animals Asia Foundation (AAF), Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), Institute of Ecology and Biological Resources (IEBR), Asian Turtle Program (ATP) under Indo-Myanmar Conservation (IMC), Vietnam Police Academy, Institute for Environmental Science and Technology at Hanoi University of Science and Technology (INEST - HUST), People and Nature Reconciliation (PanNature), Vietnam MAB National Committee, and TRAFFIC.

The course is a fantastic opportunity for those passionate about conservation but unsure where to start, helping to build a strong conservation community in Vietnam. Follow us to stay updated on WildAct’s activities and future courses.
